A RICH CULTURAL HISTORY

Not many cities can claim a cultural founding father as iconic around the world as John Ringling, a co-founder of the Ringling Brothers Circus.

It was Ringling who claimed Sarasota as his own, bestowing upon the city a world of art, architecture and literature including his storied library and a Museum of Art which includes his own vast collection of old world art.

Historic properties added to the Ringling legacy include a circus museum, Ringling's Italian-inspired mansion and the Asolo Theater, which was once a royal's castle in Italy.

Today, Sarasota celebrates its history as gateway to the Gulf and a cultural treasure.

Waterways

WARM, SPARKLING WATERS AND WHITE SAND BEACHES

Beach goers, boaters and fishermen from around the globe travel to Sarasota.

You can moor your fishing or pleasure vessel at Marina Jack or the private Sarasota Yacht Club. Cast off within minutes to enjoy world-class tarpon fishing or anchor along a secluded stretch of beach.

The key islands of Sarasota straddle Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, offering endless entertainment. 

Enjoy cocktails at the Lido Key Tiki Bar or many prominent beachside eateries along Longboat Key. Enjoy miles of white sand at Siesta Key, named the number one beach in the world in 2011 by Dr. Beach.

On your way back to downtown, let Fido enjoy the scenery at Bird Key Park between the John Ringling Causeway and Sarasota Bay.
